To simplify selection, we have grouped dog insurance plans from all carriers into 4 easy levels: Accident Only, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Levels differ primarily by whether illness is covered, and specific amounts of deductible, total coverage, and annual limits. Choose a level below, and we will show corresponding ranked and recommended plans from all of the providers. We recommend the Silver plan for most pets and circumstances.

Most dogs are prone to disease and illness as they age, more so than cats. Some specific pure breeds, such as Labrador Retriever and Greyhounds, are more prone to disease than others. Usually, by the time pet parents look to insure their pet, it is often too late, as the pet had already fell ill or sustained an injury, and most plans do not cover pre-existing conditions.

To avoid receiving sticker shock or making painful decisions at the vet, we recommend getting your dog insured for at least a Bronze level, but preferably a Silver level plan no later than by the time it turns 3 years old.
