Planning a vacation can be almost as challenging as recovering from one, but if you want to include your fur-baby in on the fun, here are a few extra special destinations to consider.

For Nature Enthusiasts:

The Smokey Mountains National Park.  Located in Gatlinburg, TN, it’s home to 10 dog friendly hotels and over 800 miles of trails. Despite only allowing dogs on two of those trails, leashed dogs are allowed in the campgrounds, parks and along the roads.

Niagara Falls State Park.  This favorite vacation destination boasts 8 dog friendly hotels in the area. The trails and paths are all dog friendly, with the only provision being that your dog must be leashed at all times. Even the scenic view of the falls to the gorge can be walked with your dog!

For Beach Lovers:

Key West, Florida.  Key West, Florida offers over 200 dog friendly vacation accommodations, in addition to three dog beaches, a dog friendly hiking trail, and nine dog friendly tours. Take your dog kayaking, to visit the aquarium or even on a dolphin charter tour!

San Diego, California.  This beautiful city is home to over 100 dog friendly vacation accommodations, in addition to 19 dog parks, 3 dog beaches, 9 dog friendly hiking trails, and 2 dog friendly tours. Have you ever wanted to paddle board with your dog? San Diego’s SUP Pups Stand Up Paddle Board Tour and Playtime provides you and your furry best friend with the paddleboard, you just bring the pup.

For History Buffs:

Savannah, Georgia.  Tucked along the Savannah River, this historic city offers over 60 dog friendly vacation accommodations, in addition to four dog parks, two dog friendly hiking tails, and a whopping 24 dog friendly tours. You and your fur baby can climb aboard a historic horse drawn carriage together, check out the Georgia State Railroad Museum, scare yourselves into few ghost tours, or even sign up for the Oliver Bentley’s Historic Dog Walk Tour that shows you historic Savannah from your fur baby’s point of view.

Charleston, South Carolina.  Nestled between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, the historic city of Charleston offers 17  dog friendly vacation accommodations, in addition to eleven dog parks, three dog beaches, a dog friendly hiking trail and fourteen dog friendly tours. Visit a real plantation, sail on the Schooner’s Pride, or take a walking tour and see the sights of this beautiful city, all with your furry best friend at your side.
